Performer Perspective: Kristopher Anderson

Kristopher Anderson talks about working on his first production with Lung Ha Theatre Company

Tell us about why you wanted to join Lung Ha Theatre Company.

I love to perform. I always wanted to become an actor ever since I was young. I have done drama things before and I wanted to get more experience so that's why I auditioned for Lung Ha.

How are you finding rehearsals for The Silent Treatment?

It's great, I'm really enjoying it. It's a lot of fun because it is a much bigger project than I am used to working on. I find it hard sometimes because my character spends a lot of time sitting down and sometimes I forget to stand up but we have a lot of rehearsal time left. There is a lot of silence in the show which some people say I should find easy because they think I am quite shy but I know that I am a bubbly person. Even so, I do actually find the fact that there is so much silence alright. Sometimes I find it really easy but at other times I think I might be making a mess of it. I am really liking rehearsals because it gets me out more and I like hanging out with the other actors.

This play is quite different from other plays because of the amount of silence, how do you like the play?

It's fun. I've done some performances before but nothing as big as this so I'm a bit nervous but also very excited. When I first joined Lung Ha Theatre Company in 2015 I didn't know everyone's names so it was a bit embarrassing playing name games. Now however it is much better because I know everyone's names. Being part of The Silent Treatment makes me want to try and be an actor in the future even more.

The Silent Treatment will be performed at Tron Theatre, Glasgow on 01 & 02 April 2016, and Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh on 07 - 09 April 2016.
